I did start a wiki with students last year in math and it worked okay-I had them working in pairs on a page collaborating-I do think I can improve on it. For me it helped to start small and then along the way kids gave me ideas and I started to get more ideas once I was actually trying something instead of not trying anything.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"41195897","dateCreated":"1312414773","smartDate":"Aug 3, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"sbosworth","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/sbosworth","imageUrl":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/pic\/1202793136\/sbosworth-lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/web-resources-2011.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/41195897"},"dateDigested":1532145050,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Haven't gone the Kindle route yet...maybe I should!","description":"Or the iPad I suppose. It's neat to think of having all those resources you love in a small device like that and being able to reference notes you've made or do searches on them for specific information. I'm glad you liked the book...I thought it would accompany this course well.

\nMy training and certification area is in math though I teach career exploration\/financial literacy through technology integration. Having that math background however has made me very aware as to how hard it can be to integrate math into a lot of these applications. I've seen a teacher use Comic Life to have kids explain and demonstrate a math concept, teachers record themselves solving a sample problem and adding the video to a blog, the use of Geogebra, EDC applets (http:\/\/maine.edc.org\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=375<\/a>) and (http:\/\/maine.edc.org\/mod\/resource\/view.php?id=462<\/a>), collaborative hands on projects that apply math concepts, on line quizzes for formative assessments... There are ways but you are right when you say it's more of a challenge. I'm glad the author had something in there to help you out!!
